My light

Our world is so fleeting

Always slipping away

Before i get my scrawny fingers wrapped around its

Squirming body.

But you, my dearest of dears,

You are a constant.

I will not bathe you in flowery language.

But rather bluntly,

Sharply

Tell you.

Tell you how you are a rock.

A stable force of lightness I look up towards

Feeling the same ambivalence

And confusion

And knowing, reminding me

That it’s simply ok.

Ok to scream

Ok to cry and dig your nails into your skin sometimes

Wondering how we got here and why.

It’s not necessary to use metaphor to describe the beauty you possess as a human.

A metaphor is too banal, too labeling

To capture the essence

Of your character.

You cannot be restricted by words,

Barred by simple, stoic adjectives

You are much more.

you are the fluidity of water and the way the ocean caresses the sand

You are ideas and melodies and smiles on children’s faces after they fall on the side walk and Stand right back up

Even though their knees are scraped.

You are lightness.

And I will always

Always

Be eternally grateful for the illumination you leave behind

With every single step.
